5-Year Limited Warranty
Effective June 10, 2026 — this warranty replaces and upgrades our previous 2-year limited warranty.
Our promise
We build every ARB Teak piece from Grade-A plantation teak — one of the finest furniture woods in the world, legally and sustainably harvested from Perum Perhutani–managed forests in Indonesia — and we craft it to serve your home for decades, not seasons. We know what our furniture is made of. That's why we back it with a 5-Year Limited Warranty, among the strongest in teak furniture.
For five (5) years from the date of delivery, ARB Teak & Specialties warrants to the original purchaser that your ARB Teak product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. If, after inspection by an ARB Teak representative, a product is confirmed to be defective, we will — at our discretion — repair it, replace the affected part, or replace the product.
Hardware is covered too. Our fittings are stainless steel and 100% pure brass — pure brass will never rust, though as a softer metal it can occasionally break; if a fitting fails, we'll replace it.
Caring for teak is simple — and it's part of the deal
Teak needs no treatments, no preservatives, no special products — ever. Its natural oils are its protection. All your ARB Teak piece ever needs is fresh water, a mild detergent such as dish soap, and a soft-bristle brush, as described in our Teak Care guide. Cleaned regularly this way, your teak stays beautiful for decades — mold and mildew simply don't get a foothold on well-kept natural teak.
Because teak's own oils do the protecting, applying anything else doesn't help the wood — it harms it (sealed surfaces trap moisture and feed mildew). For that reason, this warranty remains valid only if the product is maintained as described in our Teak Care guide. Applying teak oil, varnish, lacquer, paint, stain, wax, sealants, or any chemical other than a mild detergent such as dish soap ends this warranty. (Light sanding to refresh the surface, as described in our care guide, is fine.)
Teak is natural wood — character is not a defect
Wood is a product of nature. Over time your piece will develop character, and these natural behaviors are normal — they do not weaken the product and are not defects:
- Silver-grey patina — teak's golden tone weathers to the elegant silver-grey prized on classic yachts. Cosmetic, and reversible with a light sanding.
- Hairline cracks (checking) — normal expansion and contraction as the wood breathes; does not weaken the product.
- Color and grain variation — from aging, sunlight and everyday exposure. No two teak trees are alike.
- Raised grain, water spots and early discoloration — part of initial weathering as surface oils evaporate; fades over time.
- Surface soap film or mildew on residue — soap and body-oil residue can sit on any surface; it scrubs away with soapy water. The teak itself resists rot and decay.
Not sure if it's character or a defect? Send us a photo — we'll tell you straight, and we'll help either way.
What this warranty does not cover
- Normal wear and tear, and the natural characteristics described above
- Damage from abuse, misuse, negligence, accidents, improper assembly or alterations
- Products treated with oil, varnish, lacquer, paint, stain, wax, sealants, or harsh chemicals (this ends the warranty)
- Damage from improper cleaning (pressure washers, solvents, abrasives) or improper storage (e.g., wrapped in plastic without airflow)
- Commercial, hospitality or institutional use (this warranty covers residential use)
- Cushions, fabrics and non-teak accessories — these carry their own 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects
- Products bought used, from unauthorized resellers, or as floor models / final-sale items
- Shipping damage — that's handled immediately under our delivery policy below, not as a warranty claim
How a claim works
- Contact us at orders@arbteak.com or 1-855-772-8325 with your order number, photos of the issue, and a short description.
- Inspection. Every claim is reviewed case-by-case by an ARB Teak representative — we respond within 2 business days. We may ask for additional photos or video, or to make the product available for assessment, before a decision. This step is how we keep this warranty strong for the customers who need it.
- Resolution. If the product is confirmed defective, we repair it, replace the part, or replace the product — at our discretion — and we'll tell you exactly what happens next and when.
Filing a warranty claim is always free. If we ask you to ship the product to us to assess a confirmed defect, we'll arrange and cover that shipping. (The restocking fee in our Returns policy applies only to change-of-mind returns — never to warranty claims.)
This warranty covers products purchased in the United States and Canada from arbteak.com, arbteak.ca, our Montreal showroom, or an authorized ARB Teak reseller. Proof of purchase is required. It is extended to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
Arrived damaged or defective?
That's not a warranty case — that's on us, immediately. Contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos, and please don't use the product once the damage or defect is discovered — we'll replace the product or part at no charge.
Returns (separate from this warranty)
Changed your mind? Contact us within 30 days for a return authorization (RGA). Items must be unused, in original packaging, with no oil, varnish or finishing products applied. A restocking fee of two times the original shipping charges applies. See our Returns page. Warranty claims are separate from returns and are always free.
