Hampers & Steps

Start with the job, not the size. A hot tub or bathtub step makes a high wall easier to clear. A toilet footstool raises the feet into a squatting posture while seated. A step stool helps children reach the sink or adds a step anywhere in the home. A laundry hamper keeps towels and laundry off a damp floor. One note in plain terms: these are solid teak furniture pieces, not certified medical equipment - if you need mobility support, use them alongside properly installed grab bars.

Match the height to the obstacle, not to the person. For a bathtub or hot tub, measure from the floor to the top of the wall or deck and pick a step roughly half that height, so each stride is even. For a toilet footstool, 7"-8" suits most standard-height toilets and 10"-12" suits comfort-height or taller toilets. For children at a sink, 8"-12" covers most vanities. Our steps and stools run from 8" to 48" wide, so there is a size for narrow alcoves and wide tub walls alike.

Yes. Grade A teak carries its own natural oils and a tight grain, so it resists water, steam and chlorine splash without sealing or varnish. Slatted tops shed water and let air move underneath so the piece dries between uses. Give new teak a quick rinse before first use to wash off the fine dust left from milling and shipping.

For steps: the climb height, plus the clear floor space in front of the tub or hot tub so the step is not a trip hazard in a walkway. For footstools: the clearance around the base of the toilet, including the bowl overhang. For hampers: width, depth and height of the closet, alcove or corner - and check that a door or drawer still opens fully once the hamper is in place.

Very little is required. Rinse or wipe as needed and use mild dish soap only when something needs real cleaning, then let the piece dry. Teak never needs oiling. Left alone it weathers to a soft silver-grey; a light wash with water and a soft brush brings the warm honey tone back whenever you want it.
